Dear Friend of Choral Music,

Chorale Coeur d’Alene (CCDA) is accepting applications for the position of Artistic Director starting with the Fall/Spring 2024/2025 season.  Candidate interviews will be scheduled during May/June, 2024 with select individuals invited to rehearse the chorus at an agreed upon time as part of the audition process.  The successful candidate’s contract will be effective July 1, 2024, with actual Chorale rehearsals beginning in late August, 2024.

Chorale Coeur d’Alene was founded in 2001 as the Northwest Sacred Music Chorale. Our current performance roster numbers well over one hundred singers.  Since its beginning, the Chorale has been led by a number of the region’s finest choral conductors.  We sing a wide variety of sacred and secular choral literature from all musical periods.

Past performances have included Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42, Holst’s Short Festival Te Deum, the Bernstein Chichester Psalms, and many other major works. The recent season’s repertoire included works by such varied composers as Moses Hogan, Lloyd Larson, Morten Lauridsen, Rene’ Clausen, Joshua Shank,  Daniel Lynch, Alice Parker and a work newly commissioned for the Chorale by Patti Drennan.  The Chorale draws members and audiences from Eastern Washington and throughout the North Idaho Panhandle.  We present three, sometimes four, concerts per season, each of multiple performances, in a variety of venues.

This is a part time, salaried position.  The Artistic Director, working with the CCDA Board of Directors, is responsible for choosing all repertoires for each season, planning and conducting rehearsals, conducting concerts, and serving as Chorale Coeur d’Alene’s chief representative to both the community and the region.  The Chorale rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings from late August through mid-May. Compensation is negotiable.  For further information please visit www.ChoraleCdA.com.

Please send letters of interest along with a current resume to bert@bertnewman.com no later than May 30th, 2024.

Best Regards,

W. D. Bert Newman
